Today we witnessed the true power of love, and we have come to believe that indeed, love will always win. This Friday started off with strong winds intertwined with stubborn rain but by morning, the weather was cozy and calm. The rain had passed during the night and left the rest of the day calm.
Amidst all this, the majority of the nation had no clue that Bugingo’s and Suzan Makula’s relatives would be officially meeting this afternoon for Suzan’s Kukyala (cultural introduction ceremony) at her parents’ home in Kyebando.
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo is the leader of one of the leading Pentecostal churches, House of Prayer Ministries whereas Suzan Makula Nantaba is a member of the same church.
A few hours into the event, social media began getting saturated with photos and short videos of the colorful venue and an uncontrollably happy bride who couldn’t seem to stop laughing and smiling.
Susan’s uncontrollable happiness is definitely understandable: many people believe she is responsible for the separation of her current husband, Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, and his former wife, Teddy Bugingo. That being said, many people have labeled her “man snatcher” and they wouldn’t want to see her making her marriage official and successful. So today, Suzan won by big and got a step closer to securing her position as the official wife to pastor Bugingo. Hence the exhilaration she helplessly exhibited during today’s ceremony.
However, there is still huge speculation as to whether Bugingo can indeed wed considering that his official wife, Teddy Bugingo has been open about denying him a divorce.
According to Teddy, Bugingo is still her official husband and she does not believe in divorce.
But today is for Suzan Makula: so let’s get right back into it.
Suzan and Bugingo’s Kukyala was decorated by Uganda’s leading decorator, iCandy, who indeed did a great job with the blue and dusty rose, and silver theme. To make the colors pop, the decorator worked on a white canvas (white boarded floor) against a white-draped tent, and used a lot of glass esthetics both on the tablescape and ceiling.
Suzan wore a beautiful silver and peach gomesi (to match the theme) whereas her bae, Bugingo, wore a three-piece grey and blue suit that also perfectly matched the day’s theme. Looking deep into each other’s eyes, you could tell the couple wished this moment would last a lifetime.
Social media is awash with mixed reactions: some wishing them a happily ever after whereas others are praying it “endsĀ in tears.”
A Kukyala is usually a small and intimate function where the parents of the bride-to-be meet the groom and his parents. Usually, this is a small function that can be done indoor without the need for fancy decor. However, those blessed with “deep pockets” have always gone a step further and made this as lavish a function as there can be. We saw the same when Rema Namakula took her husband, Hamza to meet her parents. If the budget allows, there’s no need why you should hold back but if you have budget constraints, you can make the decoration as minimal as your budget permits.
