The COVID-19 lockdown may have slowed down Ugandan weddings but it surely didn’t stop them. Although many couples couldn’t wait for the government to lift the lockdown restrictions which restricted weddings to only 20 guests, others who wanted to host more numbers decided to wait. Now that the government has authorized couples to host up to 200 guests, those who had decided to hibernate until more numbers were allowed have come out to hold their ceremonies. One of those couples is that of Charles Peter Mayiga’s daughter, Samantha Nanziri, and her fiance Emmanuel Ofwono. Emmanuel is a son to Hon. Apollo Yeri Ofwono, the Member of Parliament, Tororo City.
The Buganda deputy’s social media accounts have been awash of photos and videos of his daughter’s wedding which occurred over the weekend at All Saints Cathedral Church Nakasero.
Nanziri had earlier introduced Ofwono to her parents in a Kwanjula ceremony that was held on 2nd October 2021. The ceremony was attended by a few close friends and relatives from both sides.
The ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Reverand Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu. The ceremony was also presided over by many Buganda dignitaries and Ugandan prominent business moguls as well as politicians.
