Hello beautiful people! I wonder what you could be doing on the internet right now: Is it perhaps searching for the most perfect wedding locations in Uganda?
As usual, I have you sorted! Uganda is a beautiful country with a mixture of modern and cultural sites. There are hundreds of places absolutely fit for a wedding and any other event of your choice. Of course, once you have settled for a wedding planner, he or she will present you with a list that may include more or less of these places according to the theme, budget, and other variables.
Who is this list for?
I understand time is money. So going in, I want to save you both time and energy by highlighting whom this list would be most helpful to.
- Your wedding budget is UGX 60m and above and your guest list is less than 300 people.
- You have over 300 people and your wedding budget exceeds UGX 100m
If these wedding venues aren’t ideal for you, worry not. We have published a number of posts in regards to a variety of wedding venues in Uganda. See more here;

Since there are quite a number of places, I am going to narrow it down to the top six wedding venues. Keep in mind these mainly fit into the aspect of your wedding reception, but at times people wish to incorporate other factors into it as well. These places can still work with a perfect plan. Let’s check them out, shall we?
1. Lake Victoria Serena Hotel, Kigo
This is the second hotel in Uganda under the Serena hotels group and is utterly breathtaking. It is located at one of Uganda’s most praised tourism sites, L. Victoria, and provides that beautiful serenity one would look for in a nature-themed wedding. It also has renovations taking place for a helipad for the extravagant entrance any couple would look for on their wedding day.
What makes Serena Kigo exceptional is its location and ambiance. Honestly, you won’t find a wedding reception like Serena Kigo anywhere else in Uganda. I could dare to describe various features that make it stand out but showing you is much better. After all, “A video says a trillion words.”
2. Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort
This hotel is absolutely iconic because it has access to one of Uganda’s most amazing features, lake Victoria. This beautiful location provides splendid catering, stunning scenery, accommodation, and wonderful service. I have attended quite a few weddings here, and honestly believe it’s a great choice for your day.
Here is a video about Speke Resort Munyonyo in regards to being a wedding or event reception
3. The Kampala Serena Hotel
This hotel has received a five-star ranking from the Uganda tourism board and is under the Serena hotels group. Officially opened in 2006, it provides quality service to all of its guests and makes a delightful spot for a wedding reception. It has 13 suite rooms plus a presidential suite room that hosted Queen Elizabeth on her visit to Kampala. It also boasts of a helipad in case you want to make a grand entrance. What makes Kampala Serena wedding-worthy is its rich history, the meticulously catered to green gardens and artificial waterfalls, and its price tag. I mentioned the price tag because most of the people who choose Serena are not in the same set as those who would choose Speke Munyonyo. The people who choose Serena do so because of its exclusivity. A plate of food at Serena is around UGX140,000 while the same is at UGX80,000 or less at Speke.
4. Mestil Hotel
Located in Nsambya, Mestil hotel seems to be taking center stage as a leading choice for many couples. And that is surprising considering it does not have any admirable scenery let alone the hotel structures themselves. Mestil’s reception choices (rooms and garden) are also more expensive compared to any other hotel on this list.
The reason Mestil is many people’s choice must be the fact that it is located near the city center, their menu is cheaper compared to Serena, but also because the place looks pristine.
5. The Sheraton Hotel and Residences
A little bit of a background check: Sheraton hotel Kampala was established in 1967 as the Apollo hotel in honor of the then president Mr. Apollo Milton Obote. When he was overthrown by Idi Amin Dada, it was named Kampala International hotel. When it was later acquired by Sheraton hotels and resorts, it was renamed and underwent marvelous renovations that made it the treasured spot it is today. It also has a five-star rank and is highly recommended as a perfect wedding spot. I mostly prefer the gardens for a wedding reception precisely because you can transform the area into whatever you want.
6. Chobe Safari Lodge
If you have been dreaming of a Safari wedding, this is it! This luxurious lodge located near the beautiful Murchison falls is definitely a wonderful wedding spot. It is acclaimed for hosting a number of prominent people such as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West during their visit to Uganda. It is located near an airport thus easy movement for your entourage and a wonderful view of the African wildlife.
It is, however, important to note that a Safari wedding comes with a hefty budget if it has to be Pinterest-worthy. Things like transportation, accommodation, for both the couple and guests have to be put into consideration. And those two are very important in the tourism sector. For example; the Safari Tier 3 (Value) rooming & safari activity rate in Uganda starts from $450 to $600 per person/night.
